1960
October 6–22 – the first trip to the USSR. Visiting the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra, Moscow Theological Academy, Leningrad Theological Academy. Accompanied by the priest Evgeny Ambartsumov. A trip to Novgorod, Pskov, Pechory, Vladimir.

1961
November 12 – a trip to the USSR.

1965
December 7–23 – a trip to the USSR. Talks in the MTA and LTA, meeting with His Holiness Patriarch Alexis, Metropolitan Nicodemus, Archbishop Alexis, Bishop Philaret, conversation with the Chairman of the Council for Religious Affairs P.V. Makartsev, visiting archpriest Anatoly Kaznovetsky, visiting archpriest Evgeniy Ambartsumov in the hospital.

1966
January 27 — February 8 — a trip to the USSR. Visits the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra, a talk in the MTA.
January 27 – elevated to the rank of metropolitan. Approved as exarch of the MP in Western Europe.
November 26 – December 22 – a trip to the USSR, a visit to the MTA; meeting with “two priests”, a trip to Odessa, Simferopol, Yalta.

1968
May 22 – June 2 – a trip to the USSR, celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Patriarchate. The address at the Assumption Cathedral of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra. The first meeting in the apartment of archpriest Nikolai Vedernikov.
September – a trip to the USSR, visits to the MTA and the LTA.

1969
December – a trip to the USSR.

1971
June – a trip to the USSR. Participation in the Council of Bishops. Speech in defense of the Church in Exile. A trip to Riga.
September 20 – October 3 – a trip to the USSR, participation in the election of the Patriarch, a visit to the MTA, a visit to Novgorod, a meeting with Metropolitan Nicodemus, Archbishop. Pitirim, the editor of the JMP, archbishop Filaret, rector of the MTA, Archimandrite Augustine, rector of the Lavra.

1972
August 29 — September 13 — trip to the USSR. A trip to Tula, Obolenka, the city of Venevo, Didlovo. Work in the Commission for Christian Unity. Consecration of Bishop Anatoly (Kuznetsov). Names day of Patriarch Pimen. Visit to the Andrey Rublev museum.

1973
December 16–27 – a trip to the USSR. A visit to the MTA, a trip to Kiev (December 20–22), a reception with the Patriarch, a visit to Metropolitan Juvenaly a meeting with Metropolitan Filaret, Archbishop Pitirim, archpriest Vsevolod Spiller, meeting in the apartment of archpriest Nikolai Vedernikov.

1974

1978
September – a trip to the USSR, the funeral of Metropolitan Nicodemus (Rotov), a visit to the MTA.

1982
February 9–20 – a trip to the USSR, a visit to Leningrad, to the MTA.

1983
February 3 – a trip to the USSR, Awarded Doctor of Theology, Honoris causa, of the Moscow Theological Academy (for a combination of scientific, theological and preaching works). A visit to Minsk, Rostov–on–Don. Verbal warning–ban on apartment meetings.

1987
May – a trip to the USSR. Lecture on clergy at the conference “Theology and Spirituality of the Russian Orthodox Church” in Moscow, interview for the Russian Orthodox Church Publishing Council.

1988
March – a trip to the USSR. Pre–Council meeting in Moscow.
June – a trip to the USSR, participation in the Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in connection with the 1000th anniversary of the baptism of Russia. He raised the question of the refusal to allow participation in the Council of Militsa Zernova and the role of women in the witness to Christ and the preservation of the Church during the years of persecution. Meetings at homes, talks, also with teenagers, “Family” (the first publication in the USSR).

1989
October – a trip to the USSR. Participation in the Council of Bishops on the occasion of the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the Patriarchate. The first (and only) public talk in Moscow, in the Artist’s House.

1990
June – a trip to the USSR with archpriest John Lee and churchwarden Anna Garrett; participation in the Local Council of Bishops, election and enthronement of Patriarch Alexy II.
