Round table "Profession as a ministry. Ministry as a profession"

The VII international conference on the legacy of Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh «What does it mean to be a Christian in everyday life?»

Date: September, 15th, 2019. Time: 16:00 – 17:30

Chair: Tatiana Semchishina — Nurse at the children intensive care unit; Council Member, Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh Spiritual Heritage Foundation

Organizer: Vera Erokhina

A large proportion of our everyday life is dedicated to work. Some people consider their job as a calling, some – as a form of creative activity and self-expression, some – as a burden. We suggest discussing how our professional life is related to our Christian calling.

Our intention is to create a space for discussion and to raise questions concerning the role of work in our lives and truly Christian attitude to work. We would also like to relate our experience to the experience and legacy of metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh.

Questions for discussion:

1) How are work and ministry related in the life of a Christian, who is called to be God’s co-worker in all ways of life including professional life?

2) How can one discover motivation and meaning in a boring, routine job?

3) What can we do if our job is so tiring that we live the life to the full only on holidays?

4) Are there any special considerations for choosing a job for a Christian?
